My favorite online marketing podcasts

I’ve been listening to podcasts for a few years now. It started with the journalistically exciting (crime) series Serial, but then the marketing-relevant podcasts were quickly added. So here are a few of my favorites on the subject of digital & online marketing podcasts in the broadest sense.

Online Marketing Performance Podcast - Podcast Tip Recommendation

A little more for advanced users and those interested in SEO, but still a great podcast that has some topics for beginners. The constellation of a creative journalist and an SEO tekkie who take up and analyze content marketing topics and reveal many valuable tips and tricks is very cool.

OMR – Online Marketing Rockstars Podcasts

Many people are already familiar with it as the audience is growing rapidly, but perhaps some of you don’t know it yet. As the name suggests, this is about Online Marketing in all its facets. I’ve noticed that lately it’s often just about startups and the growth mechanisms and how the whole thing about startups actually came about, but the podcasts are still usually quite interesting. You have to at least give credit to the head of the series, Philipp Westermeyer, for always trying to squeeze as many operational insider tips as possible out of the interviewees :)

T3n – Filter Bubble Pioneers Podcast

The T3n podcast series called Filterblase is a little more technical but still incredibly informative. My playing tips to get you started:

Also a little further on the topic but also extremely well moderated and designed podcast. A lot of good questions are asked here and a lot of insider information is elicited from the guests :)

I have to admit that I’ve only heard one episode, but it’s already really impressed me. It’s not always about online topics, but at least in the penultimate and last podcast the topics were very Internet-focused and super interesting.

Generally podcasts that make you very smart :)

A bit off topic but super good – Radiolab

This is more about God and the world, but mostly about stories with a bit of a scientific background that have a certain “aha” effect. And in terms of production, this podcast is actually the best I’ve ever come across so far. Just listen to it.

Playing tip “From Tree to Shining Tree”

Freakonomics Radio

Since I read the book a few years ago (I think around 2009) I have seen the subject of statistics with completely different eyes. And the podcast also surprises with a great analysis of complex economics and psychology topics in understandable words and extremely cool examples.

Playing tips:

Benjamin Walker’s Theory of Everything

Benjamin Walker also covers a lot of different topics but every now and then he gets into the marketing and social media world (“Targeted” about retargeting and data collection in online marketing) and then really wonderful things come out. And the topics that have a bit of a conspiracy theory feel to them are always very interesting :)
